FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2023 – THE LIONESSES BID ‘ADIOS’ TO COLOMBIA BEATING THEM 2 – 1 IN THE QUARTER FINALS -12/08/2023

WE HAVE PLEASURE IN ONCE AGAIN PRESENTING THE QUARTER-FINALS MATCH BETWEEN THE LIONESSES AND COLOMBIA, WHICH THE LIONESSES WON BY 2 – 1 AND WENT INTO THE SEMI-FINALS TO PLAY AUSTRALIA! THE LIONESSES FOUND OUT EARLY ON THAT THIS COLOMBIAN TEAM WERE TENACIOUS, BUT ADAPTED TO THEIR STYLE WELL. SANTOS SCORED THE FIRST GOAL FOR COLOMBIA, WHICH WAS AN EYE-OPENER FOR THE LIONESSES, BUT IT WASN’T LONG BEFORE LAUREN HEMP EQUALISED WITH A STUNNING GOAL, SIX MINUTES INTO STOPPAGE TIME, BEFORE HALF-TIME. THIS MEANT THAT IT WAS 1 – 1 AT THE BREAK. IN THE SECOND-HALF, THE LIONESSES ‘CAME OUT FIGHTING’ CREATING MANY ENERGETIC, EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES, BUT WITH RAMIREZ, SANTOS, AND CAICEDO ALL, SEEMINGLY TRYING TO BE ‘EQUALLY ENERGETIC’, IT WAS CERTAINLY INTERESTING, WITH NON-STOP ACTION, CHALLENGES AND EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT STUFF AGAIN. THEN, IN THE 63RD MINUTE, RUSSO SCORED A SUBLIME GOAL, AFTER A BRILLIANT ASSIST FROM GEORGIA STANWAY, (WHERE THERE WAS NO POSSIBLE CHANCE THAT IT COULD BE SAVED.) AND JUST LIKE THAT, THE LIONESSES ROARED AGAIN, AND WITH AUSTRALIA TO PLAY NEXT – IT’S ONWARDS AND UPWARDS…!
