And More Than Sport.” This new campaign is to share the multi-faceted essence of the Olympic experience and what the Games are: more than just a global sports competition. The Olympic Games are a celebration of human spirit, resilience, and unity. It is everything that sport and the Olympic Games mean to people: belonging and human connection, personal empowerment and growth, and opportunities and dreams.

Appearing onstage on World Refugee Day at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, the two-time Olympic swimmer recalled her escape from Syria during the civil war and her experience of representing the hopes and dreams of refugees globally at Rio 2016.
